According to a recent release by Flexa, a cryptocurrency payments startup funded by the Winklevoss twins has unveiled Shiba Inu support.
This means that holders of the most popular meme coin can now spend it in approximately 40,000 businesses across the United States.
Supported video game store GameStop, luxury goods retailer Nordstrom, home furnishings store Lowe’s, pet store Petco, home and furniture firm Bed Bath & Beyond, beauty chain Ulta Beauty and many other major stores.
Regal Cinemas, based in Knoxville, also teamed up with Flexa last month to get the cryptocurrency.
Starbucks also took part in testing the app, but was quickly removed from the list of available businesses, despite a viral photo of the Winklevoss twins using the app to make a purchase.
Introduced in 2019, Flexa Spedn cryptocurrency wallet facilitates cryptocurrency payments. It originally supported four cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, and the Gemini Dollar stablecoin.
Shiba Inu can now be purchased from GameStop, Lowe’s and Nordstrom.
Flexa also added Dogecoin, the original dog meme coin, to its cryptocurrency roster in May.
The network is smoothly converting cryptocurrencies to fiat currencies, eliminating the need for stores to deal with fluctuations associated with cryptocurrencies. Instant payments are possible using Amp, an ERC-20 token that serves as crowdsourced collateral.
Over the past month, the Shiba Inu has made significant strides in attracting merchants.
Earlier this week, electronics company Newegg announced that it would accept Shiba Inu payments. According to CEO Adam Aron, in early 2022, the AMC cinema chain also wants to include Shiba Inu.
Despite these important stages of implementation, the price of the token has decreased by 60.39% compared to its maximum lifetime.
